Has it REALLY been that long since I posted here?! Much has happened in the last year and a half, not all good (at the time, anyway). My life looks a LOT different than it did when we last spoke.
In January 2014, my hubby very unexpectedly lost his job, sending us into a panicked downward spiral. It didn't take long for us to pull it together and start moving forward though. We decided to see it as an opportunity (albeit a challenging one!) and I made the choice to return to work and hubby has been retraining for a career field he has been interested in for over a decade, massage therapy. (an aside, I'm really loving being the practice dummy for that undertaking!) I am now working casually in a very unusual segment of disability services... but it pays the bills and is certainly never dull. I like my job and it gives me a sense of accomplishment I didn't realize I was missing since the boys started school :)
Kiddo update: Frodo (13, grade 8) has started high school and after a big adjustment period, seems to be settling in well. He's doing Fantastically academically! (proud mum brag: 2A's, 4B's, 1C and 1D ... D was in drama which was very loud & chaotic, so I'm not surprised he didn't do wonderfully in that one). His best mate for the last couple of years is in all of his classes with him, which is great for both of them. Samwise (11, grade 5) is doing great at school, as always :) He's a born student and spends his time at home collecting gemstone specimens, reading books about geology, other sciences, and history. No toys for this kid, for his birthday in March we got him a display case filled with gemstones & little cards with information about them... never seen a kid so excited about a non toy gift lol. Merry (8, grade 3) is still a lovable little terror lol. Some things never change I guess ;) He's growing up so fast, I no longer have any little ones... I have big boys *sniffle*
We also have two new additions to the family, after a lovely stray mama cat had a litter of kittens in our garden in December 2013. She sadly got hit by a car, but we saved her babies, got 3 of them to a lovely rescue, and two joined our family. They are Ash & Kali, and they just crack us up (as an added bonus, the older two kitties, Dotti & Smudge, are much more energetic since the newbies joined us)
Ok, that's mostly caught up the big things that have happened in the hiatus of this blog :D I've titled this 'watch this space' because I'm going to do some serious blog planning to plan some regular posts here. Nag me via facebook if I'm lazy lol.
