Just a couple of weeks ago, I was out watering my veggie garden and I looked up to note that the giant tree next door was finally nude....completely devoid of foliage. I thought, 'it's about damn time!' So for a grand total of a week trees pretended it was actually Winter :)
Then a few days later I was hanging laundry out on the line (we do that down here ;) and I noticed a halo of beautiful, vibrant, spring green covering the tree. We were still having the odd near zero degree Celsius night, but the days are in full Springtime mode. Yesterday we had 31C (88F for my American lovies)... seriously... where did my spring go???? *pout* I half joke that we have just past summer, Summer, and almost summer as our seasons here.
I love being able to watch the seasons go by as I go about my everyday 'stuff'... but here in Queensland, the day to day change is SO noticeable. There is no sneaking up on us, noooo, Spring lays in wait like a pussy cat ready to pounce here LOL. My tomatoes are ripening, beans are a-growin', and strawberries flowering. The mango tree has flowers as well already! Best get to the garden center for mango bags otherwise the bats & birds will get more than we do again.... also best get looking for mango chutney recipes to use the glut of them up when the time comes!
Look who came to visit! The mornings are warm enough that I've taken to setting up shop on the veranda with a book and a cup of coffee (or tea, which is a new thing for me... I have never been a hot tea person! but it's growing on me) and enjoying the morning. This morning I had a visitor ... a rather substantial blue tongue lizard! He was at least a foot to 18 inches long and suitably unimpressed with my desire to 1. get a photo of him, and 2. touch him (he hissed mightily lol) Apparently with these guys around, we should never find a snake in the yard. Thank you, my scaly little reptile friend:)
Appropriately, I have sort of caught the Spring Cleaning bug. I'm feeling the urge to clean out a lot of the things that typically get missed in everyday housework. I'm clearing out the massive bags of clothes the boys have outgrown (they were hangin around in the garage) and adding some things from their dresser & closet into the bags. I was going to list them on a local for sale site, but I have decided to donate them instead...in hopes that they will find their way to someone who really needs them. I'm sure there's a little boy that needs clothes out there a lot more than I need the 20$ (or the aggravation of dealing with 2nd hand sales lists!) and hopefully the universe will see that he gets them :)
In with my spring cleaning is a bit of decluttering & organizing. I was in my tupperware cupboard and realized.. I have like SIX lids for the colourful kids bowls... and only TWO BOWLS left!! LOL WHY on earth I hung onto those when I *organized* them into holders (translation: stood them on end in recycled ice cream buckets!) I will never understand. So the are in the toss pile, because I doubt anyone nearby is hanging onto 4 bowls wishing they had lids? although, I suppose you never know!
My to do list for welcoming spring:
Obviously, knowing me lol, this will all take till nearly the start of summer (Dec.1) But I'm shooting to get it done by October 1. Feel free to poke me if I don't post about my progress! ;)
Blessings!

My to do list for welcoming spring:
- Finish decluttering everyone's wardrobes
- organize the awful mess that is the laundry room (shelves! I need 'em!)
- clean up & sell our recently replaced fridge and chest freezer! ($$$ I need that too!)
- do a cupboard by cupboard thin out of crap we don't NEED in the kitchen
- tackle both my AND hubbies desks (he could do his, but I'm better at it lol)
- clear out the front garden bed & get the warmer weather fruit & veggies planted
- tidy up & decorate the veranda so it's a lovely place to spend time in the lovely days to come
